As you may have read here on the Oly Express Blog, our Le Mans Classic 2014 running was a great success. Not only did we bring a genuine Nichels racing HEMI, that had once been raced by west coast champion Ray Elder, back to life in our Dodge, but we did also kept racing until the chechered flag on Sunday.
What an amazing week-end. With a flawless preparation and the motivation of the entire crew to do the job right, we made it back to the Le Mans Classic checkered flag! And this time was more genuine than ever as a real Nichels Engineering HEMI from back in the day was propelling our Petty Dodge!
A great video from our testing day at Spa Francorchamps. Revs were kept below 6,000 rpm as the freshly rebuilt Nichels HEMI was not fully broken in yet. Some clanking noises appeared at top of thrid gear and above 4,400 rpm in fourth gear. We need to adress that before our next test in June. Some dyno runs will also be carried out at AMMAS in order to fully test the drivetrain and determine top speed.
