The budget is taking shape
I just talked with Chris Evans of Chris Evans Motorsport about our project to re-build the Olympia Charger for Le Mans Classic. Chris is enthousiatic about the project and he suggested a whole lot of great ideas to make it happen. We will use one of his very competitive chassis in order to restore an original 1971-72 Charger to the original NASCAR specs, as it raced in Le Mans in 1976. The most critical point will be braking, since the Le Mans track is very hard on brakes and we will lap it more than 50 times in race conditions. As far as safety is concerned, we will use current state of the art devices and assemblies. This is very encouraged by the organisers of Le Mans Classic, since the Charger will hit 160+ mph speeds in the Mulsanne straight. The engine will be of the same type as on the original Olympia Charger, namely a 400+ cubic inches MoPar big block! Did you expect anything less ?
