The team behind the project
This site is dedicated to a project that was born out of an historic background and a solid dose of passion for both NASCAR and Endurance racing. When in 2003, free-lance author Christophe Schwartz researched american cars at Le Mans, for french NITRO magazine, he discovered that in 1976 two NASCAR type racers also competed at the famous 24 hours: a Charger and a Torino!
Shortly after and thanks to the internet, he made contact with the son of Dick Pierson, one of the crewmembers of the Charger, as well as Doug McGriff, one of the drivers. Throughout these contacts, which also include Pat McElreap, another crew member from the 1976 team, nowadays active as a consultant to enthousiasts like Chuck Shafer, the idea was born to come back to Le Mans with the original car and team! We will keep you posted!
