The pits at Le Mans, now and then
According to this snapshot from the Le Mans 24 hours in 1976, that was given to me by Dick Pierson, the pits were rather simple but nevertheless crowded in those days. The french Gendarme or "flic" as they are called here, wears the period correct "képi" hat and of course the very french moustache! Another interesting clothing is also that lady's pink tank top and huge sunglasses. We are a bit there again, right?
This picture of my Mustang sitting in pitlane was of course not taken during a race. Nevertheless you will notice that today the pits are much more generous and way more safe during practice and racing. Funny how some teams still moan and groan about them!
