During my various discussions with Doug McGriff about his racing at the Le Mans 24 hours in 1976, he always mentonned a small bar located right next to the track, after the outgoing dogleg turns. Today, I located Doug's favorite bar again! It is as close to the track as it can be and right at the begining of the famous Mulsanne straight. In 1976, as Doug related, people actually sat at that terrace and waived and cheered to the race cars. Cars like the Charger would be coming out of that turn at roundabout 80 mph, before accelarating down Mulsanne. Today, they put guardrails and a barrier in front of it (pretty much where the Mustang is parked), but as Damien Cornille, the present owner of "Le Tertre Rouge" told me, you can still have a good view of the action from there!
