Don Dulmage to build MoPar engine
In the MoPar engine world, as in any other, there are a few people who really know their way around. Don Dulmage is certainly one of them. Don is a true blooded Canadian and has been into MoPars since he was 15. I had a chance to meet him and his wife Linda, both exceptionnally nice people, personnally this week, at their home in Belleville, Ontario. The highlights of my visit, next to a nice welcome dinner with Linda and Don, was a tour of Quinte County in Don's 1963 Max Wedge Dodge and an extensive visit of his own machine shop.
Don is absolutely passionnate about all mechanical work that he is doing. His credo is not to go hunt for parts unless you understood what you really need to do to make an engine perform better. Once this is done, he goes a bit further according to his motto " a little bit more is always possible"! Based on all this, we decided on how the engine for our Le Mans Classic Charger would be build. As in the original Charger, it will be a MoPar wedge big block. Don will only use period correct specifications and as he states "original MoPar parts which work the best". The engine will crank out about 450 horspower, which is a 100 less than in the original McGriff, but it should last much longer. Cylinder heads will be period correct iron castings and will be optimized on Don's own flowbench!

iam really excited to read this article about my good friend don.

a big success.

Mike,
I'm also very happy that Don has taken this challenge ! The Charger will be on the Nürburgring for try-outs in May 2006. It would be a good occasion to come see it there.
