Setting up the front end right is key to achieve good lap times. Thanks to the advice from Tex Powell, we were able to duplicate the front end settings that Richard Petty had on his Coke bottle Chargers in the seventies. For the Nürburgring race, we found that a height of 5" and 3° of negative camber worked best.
Doing just that made the car turn in better and go through the corners with more speed. A huge 3 seconds per lap gain on the Grand Prix track was the direct result! We have yet to optimize the air pressure in the front tyres. 31 PSI cold proved to be OK, but there is still room for improvement there. As the race week-ends come, the crew and drivers get to learn more about our great big Dodge. I guess that we will be able to surprise quite a few competitors as our progress keeps building!
