When FIA released the Group 5 rules in 1976, Porsche jumped onboard with modifying their 930 Turbo into the 935 that dominated the late 70s endurance races.
Sporting a 2.8 litre double turbocharged 590 hp engine, the Porsche 935 relies on 917 type brakes to slow down.
Double intercoolers get their fresh air through openings below the rear wing. The front is unmistakebly flat in order to enhance aerodynamics.

In order to lower the center of gravity, Porsche turned the transmission upside down. This also enabled to get it out for maintenance, specially at nighttime in races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The driver has also access to the so-called "steamwheel" that allows to adjust turbo boost while racing. The front stabilizer bar can also be adjusted from inside the cockpit. The suspension relies on titanium coil springs. When the Porsche 935 is well maintained and in the hands of a capable driver, its is unbeatable in GT and can run with the best prototypes. Four of these beasts will be at Le Mans Classic 2008. This years Porsche 935 crews are Patrick Biehler/Marc de Siebenthal, Peter Garrod, Jean Miloe and Michael Föveny/Stefan Roitmayer.
