Oly Express at Monza'08: first DNF since '06
Our 2008 vintage racing season started at Monza this week-end. After unloading the car, we had a good first day of free practice. The added brake cooling ducts worked fine, the engine ran very strong. Only the harder compound GOODYEAR's were...well, too hard and I was drifting in Curva Grande and in the Parabolica! Saturday Qualifying went great and we improved our 2007 best time by 1.5 seconds.
The only trouble was that the rest of the field improved their times even more, so it wa sto be a tough race for the Oly Express. After a good start from row 20 out of 22, we were racing faster every lap, until on lap 5 something let go in the tranny and oil spilled all over the clutch, soaking it fully. That was it. At least the car and engine stayed in one piece and we all had a great time. Now it's back to the shop in order to find out what and why it happened. We'll for sure test the Oly Express Charger prior to Le Mans, because that is a race we do want to finish by all means!
As you can see, the weather in Monza was great!
Warming her up for the race. Thanks to an electric oil pre-heater, that was a snap!

DNF or not DNF, Monza thanked Olympia Charger for the greatest show!!!
