Some of you may ask why we were not able to finish the race (Hey, isn't that a great shot by David Fontayne!). For me, we had quadruple bad luck or scoumoune, as the French call it!
Here is why. As I picked up my drivers bracelet at registration on Wednesday, guess what number I got? Right, number 13! On Saturday evening before the race, I went to put two GreenGT stickers on the front fenders. Dick said that in NASCAR you cannot have green on the car. I asked him why and Dick just said: "No green on the car and no peanuts in the pits, both bring bad luck in NASCAR!". No peanuts? But we did eat peanuts in the pits on Friday evening to go with the rosé wine of the apéritif! I just disregarded all that, got in the car and raced. Then on the fourth lap, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, a minute past Midnight, the driveshaft broke. Guess what date it was then? Right, Sunday July 13! Now you can bet your retirement insurance that I'll have at least 3 dozen cases of Olympia beer with the good luck horseshoe on the can in our pits at Le Mans Classic 2010!
