DNF in Le Mans due to "La Scoumoune"

Some of you may ask why we were not able to finish the race (Hey, isn't that a great shot by David Fontayne!). For me, we had quadruple bad luck or scoumoune, as the French call it!
Here is why. As I picked up my drivers bracelet at registration on Wednesday, guess what number I got? Right, number 13! On Saturday evening before the race, I went to put two GreenGT stickers on the front fenders. Dick said that in NASCAR you cannot have green on the car. I asked him why and Dick just said: "No green on the car and no peanuts in the pits, both bring bad luck in NASCAR!". No peanuts? But we did eat peanuts in the pits on Friday evening to go with the rosé wine of the apéritif! I just disregarded all that, got in the car and raced. Then on the fourth lap, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, a minute past Midnight, the driveshaft broke. Guess what date it was then? Right, Sunday July 13! Now you can bet your retirement insurance that I'll have at least 3 dozen cases of Olympia beer with the good luck horseshoe on the can in our pits at Le Mans Classic 2010!
Sorry to hear of the bad luck. Funny how things like all the "signs" after the fact show up. Sure it was still a fun time.

Hey, what bad luck. I wondered what was going on as I tried to track your progress on lemansclassic.com BUT. What about Silverstone? Still going?

The Dodge will be back together by next Thursday. I'll let you know what our schedule is after the August 2nd MOPAR MEET in Germany :-)

Hi Christophe, Dick and team.
That darned racing luck! I'm sure sorry to hear it, but you know you brought some excitement and diversity to the show and you all got to wind 'er out on the Mulsanne. Carry on and I hope to see you all at the races again soon.
Salud!

Hallo to all the team,
Just came home from a driving
holiday in Solvenia/Austria/Italy, what a blast..
I am very sorry to hear about your
bad luck at LMC :-(
but it can happen anytime, even if
a part never fails,
I liked the comments on the green
colour and the peanuts, so there
will be someting to avoid for
2010, execpt the Rosé hopefully, well, then let's pray for a convenient date in '2010...
I keep the fingers crossed for your rest of the season and wish
you lots of success :-)
Bonne chance!
Warmest regards
Rainer
