The Oly Express Team Chateau is almost sold out! We'll have fans from Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and Australia joining us for the world's biggest vintage race!
Thursday July 8: Team Oly Express will host a typical French “apéritif” at the Château! The aperitif, with vine, ham, cheese and dry saussage, and of course baguette, will start at 6 PM. You will receive your credentials and Team shirts upon arrival at the Chateau from Isabelle. Friday July 9: enjoy the atmosphere at the track and watch qualifying!
After a good breakfast at the Château, we’ll all go to the track. You can go there in groups or on your own. Since you have Team credentials, you can get there any time and you can acces the track by the south entrance through the camping du Houx, which is very handy during such a big event. Our qualifying will probably be from Midnight to 1 AM, so for the most enduring, it may be your first short night at Le Mans! Here is the detailled program for more informations! Saturday July 10: concours, parades and racing! Best is to get to the track early, as there are so many things going on! Be prepared for a lot of amazing cars to see and discover. For those of you who boked a track tour, this will happen just after lunch break. Then at 4 PM the race gets underway until 4 PM the next day, as the real 24 Hours of Le Mans. Each of the six classes will alternate on the track, so each machine has three stints, but there is racing action the full 24 hours!
Sunday July 11: the sunrise of the year!
In 2006, after my first Le Mans Classic, a friend asked me how I managed to sleep at the track between stints. I had to answer: “... I never slept so well amidst engine sounds preventing me from sleeping...” Whether you spend the night at the track or prefer some rest at the comfortable Château, the Sunday morning at the Le Mans Classic is just a great moment to savor. Hopefully, our car and driver will still be fit to wake up the surrounding with V8 sound!
After the race and price giving ceremony, we’ll all meet again at the Château for our “win or loose after race BBQ”. It should start at 7 PM and it will a great moment to talk about that great week-end and probably already about coming back in 2012!
