It is now time to start the rebuild of the Dodge's transmission for our next race at Le Castellet in October. The first step that I did today was the complete disassembly and inspection of parts. This A833 is a very race race-only unit with an aluminium main case and an aluminium tailhousing that has no tachdrice provision! Here are the pictures of what I found.
The tailhousing. How many of these have you seen with no tach drive hole?
The main case bearing retainer and its distintive ring to fit the 4.805" bellhousing.
The 1-2 clutch gear teeth. This one has seen better days!
The 3-4 slider with rounded off teeth due to 3rd gear pop out!
2nd gear mainshaft pinion. Teeth are still OK, but bronze bushing has color change due to excessive heat!
1st gear on mainshaft with heat-welded synchro ring and rubbed off edge. Another trashbin candidate!
The mainshaft with heat marks and a broken off lipp! It may make a nice lamp post...
The cluster gear and reverse luckily survived all that mess!
Stay tuned for the rebuild once I get the new parts!
