Looking back on 2007: Oly Charger at Monza CER

After our first Le Mans Classic in 2006, our taste for historic racing was as big as it could be and we gladly travelled to Monza for some more!

Taking a break until Le Mans Classic 2012

After our successful Gstaad Grand Prix race (24th overall out of 40 starters and 10th in GT), we recently checked the Dodge Charger at the MOPARSHOP. All 8 cylinders have good compression (above 180 psi) and good leakdown (less than 7%). So we can put the Charger away for a while and not worry about major repairs anytime soon. The big HEMI Dodge will be back for action at Le Mans Classic 2012.

Oly Express ends season with Top 10 finish

What a relief to have such a good race week-end to close the season. After two toasted transmissions and a DNF in Le Mans, we got back in the points this week-end. Thanks to great driving from ARCA's Michel Disdier, who shared the wheel with Christophe Schwartz, and outstandig wrenching from Bjoern Schmidt, the Oly Express finished 24th overall of 40 starters and 10th in the GT1 class, scoring a point in the Classic Endurance Racing championship! It was far from easy as a loose radiator and a damaged AN-12 oil connector almost stalled our week-end! But what ends well is well! So enjoy the pictures of our race week-end at Le Castellet!

Oly Express Dodge ready to race again

The red stripe transmission is now back together and in the car. Bjoern is also currently working on the blue stripe so that we'll have a spare for the next race, which is going to be Peter Auto's 10.000 RPM at Le Castellet. See you there or be square!

LMC10 Team Canteen: Hauptsach' gudd gess

As we say in my home country Saarland, a terrible day is not that bad if you have eaten well. So that is what Isabelle put in practice by organising the Oly Express Team Canteen. Hot meals were served for the crews of our Dodge and the Osella prototype that raced also in Grid 6. So my special thanks for taking care of the crews well being go to Isabelle! It all tasted great, so despite our mechnical breakdown, the mood was good. Now imagine how phantastic the Cassoulet would have tasted, had we finished the race!

Team Olympia at Reims Circuit Revival 2009

We had a good fun week-end at Reims during the annual 12 Hours and Grand Prix Circuit revival. It not a race at all but about enjoying Champagne bubbles and vintage cars. Asides from a blown valley pan gasket and traffic jams during our trip around Paris, all went smooth. There is more about the Reims Week-End on LeBlogAuto and DasAutoBlog.

Oly rocks at Jim Clark Revival Lausitzring

Did we have great week-end? You bet! Our race at the 2009 Jim Clark Revival was absolutely fantastic. Even though it started with a couple of fried caliper seals, the Oly Express crew once more worked wonders, so that we even finished second in class behind the Porsche 911 RSR of Daniel Schrey. Along the way, laping the 3.4 km roadcourse in 1.50s, we had great battles with Mathias Beetz and Bernhard Voslamber's BMW 2002 tii as well as Urs Müller's absolutly beautiful Aston Martin DB4 GT. Add to this a few demo sessions on the big oval alonsige Stefan Oberndorfer's Skoal Bandit Lumina, where Bjoern drove the Charger and you can imagine that we had great fun. Our thanks go to Ronny Bredhauer and his crew who did a flawless job and used all the advantages of the Lausitzring track! We'll be back for Jim Clark Revival 2010.

Back to the roots: our next race truck

Our trucking partner KFZ-Transporte Erkrath is thinking about investing in a new 7.5 ton hauler. Would'nt it be just too cool to have one, decorated like these good old OLY beer trucks?
